Art Gallery Project

The Abbey Museum is bulging at the seams.

Our collections of antiquities and works of art - spanning some 500,000 years of human achievements - have been growing steadily from public donations.

But our splendid collections of fine art - Renaissance and Baroque paintings, Royal Academy watercolours, rare medieval wood panels, sculpture and priceless icons from eastern Europe - are unable to be displayed because of a lack of space.

The continued success of the Museum since its opening nearly 20 years ago has resulted in the need for a vigorous program of expansion.

Museums are about perpetuity. Imagine looking at an object that was already thousands of years old when the pyramids were built. Or a sculpture made in the same studio where Michelangelo worked? Your contribution could help preserve these priceless treasures.

The Abbey Museum is currently seeking donations and in-kind support to commence its Art Gallery extension project. This shovel-ready project has been costed at $346,000. To donate to this project click here.
