Environmental Heritage Tour
This
is the usual coach visit to the Museum.
If you enjoy history or archaeology you will love the
Archaeological Gallery. Journey back through 500,000
years of the human story, from prehistoric hunters,
through the ages of bronze and iron to the development
of the great civilizations of Egypt, Mesopotamia,
Persia, Greece and Rome. Wander through the Middle Ages
and witness the conflicts that divided Church and State,
the beginnings of the Industrial Revolution and the
colonial expansion. The Museum also looks at the worlds
of Islam, China, Japan and India and ancient
Mesoamerica.
Included in your visit is a guided tour of the nearby
Abbey Church to see the wonderful medieval and
Pre-Raphaelite inspired stained glass, and especially
the Tudor glass from Winchester Cathedral.
The Museum is air-conditioned and has wheel chair
access. It comfortably holds up to 100 adults.
Morning tea or lunches are available on request.
Bookings are essential. Groups may also bring their own
morning tea. A covered area, with tables and chairs, is
available.
