Research at the Museum

The Abbey Museum conducts a number of research and publication programs on the collections. See PUBLICATIONS.

Staff at the British Museum, the Museum of London, Oxford University, the Ashmolean Museum, Leeds City Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum and many other institutions have assisted the Abbey Museum.

Among our current research projects are the weapons in the Museum’s collection; a large group of 18th century watercolours from the Old Watercolour Society; the medieval stained glass in the Abbey Museum, particularly more than 50 heraldic images and a collection of more than 50 Japanese sword guards (tsuba)
